Honours and Distinction by Kenneth Chiso Joshua

I hereby bring to your notice that a former student of the Faculty of Law, who graduated in the 2007/2008 session made the University and Nation proud by winning the 2010 edition of the International Bar Association(IBA) Essay Competition, becoming the first Nigerian Lawyer and first African to win the IBA essay competition.

The topic of his award winning essay was "Recycling of Ship, a Review of the International Application of the Disposal of and a Comparison of the Relevant Rules in Selected Shipping Jurisdiction"

Sir, it is of interest to note that the awardee who just graduated from the Nigerian Law School in the year 2009, did not study Maritime Law while in the University, as this course was only for Postgraduate students.

While in the Faculty, he was known as ONWUENYIKPE Kenneth Chiso but he changed his name to JOSHUA Kenneth Chiso.
