NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ACCEPTABLE SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR 2016: FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
Centre for Social Orientation (CenSO) is a centre borne out on the need to make the University of Ibadan a model of character worthiness and a haven of peace among citadels of learning in Nigeria. The Centre researches on Social behaviour on campus in order to create enabling environment for excellence in quality teaching, learning, researching and community services and thereby reduce all forms of indiscipline. It organizes orientation programmes for both staff and students and acts as the University Ombudsman to curtail acts of indiscipline, to mediate between disputing parties; carry out a crusade against cultism and other anti-social manifestations.
The Centre has worked in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Universities Commission to organize national workshop on eradicating cultism in Nigeria Educational Institutions. It has also, worked in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in organizing workshops, conferences and seminars.
In its bid to contribute to the transformation of society and in creating enabling peaceful environment for creativity and innovation geared towards meeting societal needs, the Centre is organizing a National Conference on Acceptable Social Behaviour with a theme Building Ethics and Acceptable Social Behaviour in Educational Institutions in Nigeria. This will hold from Sunday, 14 to Wednesday, 17 February, 2016 in Conference Centre, U. I. Hotels, University of Ibadan.
It would be appreciated if the authorities could sponsor the following among others: Dean of Students, Chief Security Officer and Students’ Union Leaders.
