APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR IDOWU OLAYINKA

AS BOARD CHAIRMAN, AFRICAN RESEARCH UNIVERSITIES ALLIANCE (ARUA)

 

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka, has been appointed the Chairman, Board of Directors of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA). Inaugurated in Dakar in March 2015, ARUA brings together a network of Africa’s leading universities from different countries and different historical backgrounds, but with a common vision to make African researchers and institutions globally competitive while contributing to the generation of knowledge for socio-economic transformation in Africa. ARUA is on a mission to strengthen African universities through effective capacity-building that comes from working together as leading institutions for the task of increasing their research output. The appointment was made at the 2017/2018 Annual General Meeting of ARUA held on 31 January 2018 at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He succeeds Dr Max Price, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of University of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa.
